Atalanta Preview: Frustrating season
In the first-half of the campaign, Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta looked as though they could mount a genuine challenge for even the treble this season but they have been very average in the second-half of the season amid Gasperini involved in feuds with key players.
They did put things right to an extent last weekend as they dispatched of already relegated Monza by four goals to nil at Stadio Brianteo last weekend thanks to a brace from Charles De Ketelaere as well as strikes from Marco Brescianini and Ademola Lookman.
Roma Preview: Ranieri’s Roma
Having come out of retirement during the November international break to become Roma’s third permanent manager of the campaign, Claudio Ranieri has propelled the Giallorossi away from genuine relegation trouble to pushing for the top four and UEFA Champions League spots.
The visitors continued their excellent form with a typically slender and controlled 1-0 defeat of Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico in the Italian capital city last weekend courtesy of an Artem Dovbyk winner deep into first-half stoppage-time.
Atalanta Team News: Hien suspended
Sweden international centre-back Isak Hien is missing through suspension for Atalanta this weekend. They also have some injury issues in defence with both Odilon Kossounou and Giorgio Scalvini, whilst Sead Kolasinac and Stefan Posch are doubts.
Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Carnesecchi; Djimsiti, Toloi, Zappacosta; Bellanova, De Roon, Ederson, Ruggeri; De Ketelaere, Lookman; Retegui
Unavailable: Hien (Suspended), Kolasinac (Injured), Scalvini (Injured), Juan Cuadrado (Injured), Scamacca (Injured)
Questionable: Kossounou (Injured), Posch (Injured)
Roma Team News: Still no Dybala
Argentina international attacking midfielder Paulo Dybala has been a key for Roma this season but he has been missing for a couple of months due to a thigh injury and other players, such as Matias Soule, have stepped up creatively in his absence.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicka; Baldanzi, Cristante, Kone, Pellegrini, Angelino; Dovbyk, Shomurodov
Unavailable: Dybala (Injured)

Atalanta vs Roma Prediction
Atalanta’s performance level has been very average in the last couple of months and their 4-0 victory against Monza last weekend was against a side that have badly struggled throughout the campaign to an almost historically poor standard. They now face a Roma side that have gone unbeaten throughout this calendar year and they have done so with an extremely tight defence. Siding with the visitors would appear a good value bet for this one.
Atalanta vs Roma Tip: Double chance – Roma to win or draw
