WIDNES VIKINGS

  • Widnes' horrific start to the season continues as they come off two more losses over the Easter weekend to Warrington and Leeds and they remain firmly rooted to the bottom of the Super League.
  • Skipper Joe Mellor comes back into the 19-man squad after missing the Leeds game as do Sam Brooks, Alex Gerrard, Danny Walker and Matt Whitley as Denis Betts changes things around to keep the side fresh.
  • Rhys Hanbury is another to return after missing the Leeds game and will be looking to add to his season tally of three tries and two assists.

  • St Helens picked up a vital win over league leaders Castleford on Easter Monday to help them get over their loss against arch rivals Wigan on Good Friday and claim their first win since Kieron Cunningham was fired.
  • Louis McCarthy-Scarsbrook returns to the squad for Luke Douglas and that is a boost to the side in what is the only change from the squad which played against Castleford.
  • Prop Kyle Amor is available to play despite being sent off against Wigan after the disciplinary committee decided the dismissal was sufficient punishment for his high tackle.

Analysis - what to expect
Widnes' season goes from bad to worse at the moment and they will not relish facing a rejuvenated St Helens side who will be confident after beating leaders Castleford on Monday. Widnes may be the fresher of the sides after rotating on Monday but all the momentum is with the visitors who have an excellent record against the Vikings.
