THE TEAM NEWS

LEEDS RHINOS

Head Coach: Richard Agar

Squad: T. Briscoe, Cuthbertson, Donaldson, Dwyer, Golding, Handley, Lolohea, McLelland, Merrin, Myler, Newman, Oledzki, Parcell, Peteru, Seumanufagai, Singleton, Smith, L. Sutcliffe, Watkins

Unavailable: Dom Crosby, Stevie Ward, Carl Ablett, Brett Ferres, Jack Walker, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, Konrad Hurrell

  • Leeds' season stooped to an embarrassing low as they were dumped out of the Challenge Cup by Championship side Bradford Bulls last week with the Rhinos now turning their attention back to Super League.

  • Interim Leeds head coach Richard Agar will be looking for a response from his players and is likely to make changes to his side with star centre Konrad Hurrell unavailable after suffering a hamstring injury last week.

  • Callum McLelland bagged a try against Bradford and will be hoping to retain his place in the side despite the return of Richie Myler whilst James Donaldson and Brad Singleton are also back in the 19.

CASTLEFORD TIGERS

Head Coach: Daryl Powell

Squad: Aston, Blair, Clare, Clark, Cook, Eden, Egodo, Jinks, Massey, Mata’utia, McMeeken, McShane, Millington, Milner, Minikin, Rankin, Sene-Lefao, Trueman, Watts

Unavailable: Luke Gale, Jamie Ellis, Alex Foster, Oliver Holmes, Junior Moors, Michael Shenton, Chris Clarkson

  • Castleford were knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Hull FC as the Tigers struggled to overcome a poor start to the game with head coach Daryl Powell unhappy with the manner of his side’s defeat.

  • Paul McShane was rushed back for the Tigers' Cup tie last week but looked to pick up a knock towards the end of the game and is a doubt although he has been named in the 19-man squad.

  • Greg Eden returns having been dropped for last week’s game whilst Jordan Rankin will also be hoping for a recall after he was the 18th man last week following his recovery from injury and the Tigers could also hand a debut to youngster Brad Jinks.

THE PREDICTION

These two teams meet on the back of being knocked out of the Challenge Cup with their Super League form also a real concern. Castleford have won two of their last eight matches in the league whilst Leeds have won just one more over the same period. Neither side make a pressing case for claiming the two points here although they will both be seeking a big response after poor displays but they might not be forthcoming. Leeds were terrible last week and will need to produce a huge turnaround to rectify that performance with Castleford able to compound their misery.
