World number 89 Alycia Parks is building up to the US Open in some good form at the moment. After a hard-fought three-set victory against Petra Marcinko, she then won 2-1 against French Open finalist Maja Chwalinska in the round of 16.
Ann Li will fancy herself to win this title now. After a comfortable win against Camila Osorio, she then progressed past Maria Timofeeva due to her withdrawal. Li had reached the second round at each WTA 1000 event earlier this month in Montreal and then Cincinnati.
Li will believe she is in a good spot to go deep at the US Open next week but Parks has also discovered some form and so a long match may well be in store for this quarter-final.
