The prediction

The Adelaide Crows (3rd) are in blistering form, riding a four-game winning streak. Their most recent performance was a stunning 61-point demolition of fellow finals contender Gold Coast (107-46), a match in which their defensive pressure held the Suns goalless for an entire half.

Port Adelaide (11th) were brought back to earth with a thud in Round 19, soundly beaten by Hawthorn by 38 points in Launceston, 87-49.

For Adelaide, midfielder Jake Soligo was a key contributor in the dominant win over the Suns. He was clean and efficient with his 24 disposals and also chimed in with a goal.

For Port Adelaide, ruckman Jordon Sweet was a rare shining light in the loss to Hawthorn. In arguably his best performance for the club, he battled hard against the tide to finish with 22 disposals, seven tackles, and 42 hit-outs.

The Showdown ledger is famously tight. After Adelaide's thrilling five-point victory in Round 8 of this season (89-84), the Crows edged ahead in the all-time count, 29 wins to 28.

Adelaide's current form is simply irresistible. Their multi-pronged forward line is firing, their midfield is deep and damaging, and their defence is organised and aggressive. Port will be desperate and will undoubtedly lift for the occasion, but the Crows are currently operating on a level that few teams in the competition can match.
