Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Stars prediction

Meg Lanning did not disappoint for Melbourne Stars in their opening game of this year’s WBBL, striking 71 in an 18-run victory against reigning champions Hobart Hurricanes. However, the Stars have had no time to dwell on that victory, with a quick turnaround seeing them make the journey to Adelaide for a showdown with the Strikers.

Led by Tahlia McGrath, Adelaide Strikers boast an intimidating bowling attack, headed up by Australian international Megan Schutt. Both Amanda-Jade Wellington and England overseas player Sophie Ecclestone provide high-quality spin options. But the player who perhaps deserves the most attention is South African star Laura Wolvaardt.

With rain possibly playing a part, the shrewd move is to avoid backing an outright winner. Instead, look at backing a player of Wolvaardt’s quality to hit the ground running with the bat, scoring 20 or more runs in her first appearance of the campaign for Adelaide.
