Yorkshire’s depth will be tested early on, with the most notable omission being Jonny Bairstow, who has taken a short-term IPL deal. He’ll return later in the group stage but for now, Yorkshire will be without their club captain. Harry Brook and Joe Root won’t feature, although Dawid Malan is available. All-rounder Will Sutherland is also in the Yorkshire squad with big things expected of him.

Northamptonshire Steelbacks have an underrated T20 side on paper, with bucketloads of white ball experience at the highest level. David Willey is a shrewd captain and will have a point to prove with bat and ball against his former club. Ravi Bopara is still a class act in the twilight of his career, whilst right-arm bolter George Scrimshaw will hope for a resurgent campaign. When taking into account the absent players Yorkshire have, backing the Steelbacks should be seriously considered.
