Wolves Preview: Battling away but wins needed

Wolves may still lie bottom of the Premier League table but they have battled well in their last two fixtures - a pair of 2-2 draws - and they are showing signs of improvement as Gary O'Neil clings on to his job.

Their most recent outing was against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace in what was a topsy-turvy encounter, but draws are not good enough considering their position in the table and O'Neil will certainly be targeting three points against one of the promoted sides.

Southampton Preview: Looking to build on first win

Southampton recorded a Premier League win at the tenth time of asking last week, with Adam Armstrong's 85th-minute strike enough for victory against Everton in a game that had its fair share of incident in the final ten minutes.

Be that as it may, the Saints have lost all five away league games since their return to the top division of English football, but they have at least found the net in three of their last four.

Wolves Team News: Hwang in contention

Hwang Hee-chan could feature after a making a return to training while Bastien Meupiyou has also made progress in his own recovery as the injuries ease for Gary O'Neil's side.

The quartet of Yerson Mosquera, Boubacar Traore, Enso Gonzalez and Sasa Kalajdzic remain out, however.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Johnstone; S. Bueno, Dawson, Toti; Semedo, Doyle, Joao Gomes, Ait-Nouri; Sarabia, Cunha; Strand Larsen

Unavailable: Mosquera (Injured), Traore (Injured), Gonzalez (Injured), Kalajdzic (Injured)

Questionable: Meupiyou (Fitness), Hwang (Fitness)

Southampton Team News: Lallana has a chance

Adam Lallana could be involved after a slight groin strain last week, but Joe Aribo could he handed a start if Russell Martin errs on the side of caution. It's as you were elsewhere, and the Saints boss will surely be tempted to field a similar side to that which beat Everton.

Injury will keep Ryan Fraser out of contention, along with Gavin Bazunu, Will Smallbone and Ross Stewart.

Predicted XI (5-4-1): Ramsdale; Walker-Peters, Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Stephens, Manning; Armstrong, Downes, Aribo, Fernandes; Archer

Unavailable: Bazunu (Injured), Smallbone (Injured), Fraser (Injured), Stewart (Injured)

Questionable: Lallana (Injured)

Wolves vs Southampton Prediction

This should be an intriguing battle at the bottom of the table as Wolves, despite still searching for that first win, may have started to turn a corner given recent results, while Southampton are one step ahead having registered their first Premier League win of the season last weekend.

You'd have to say the hosts have the edge in firepower though, with Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen operating well in the final third. With that in mind, we're backing Wolves to end their winless start here.
