Amanda Lemos: The former challenger to Zhang Weili looks to stay relevant in the title conversation at 115 pounds
Posting a 9-5 record since joining the promotion in 2017, Amanda Lemos (15-5-1) would go 7-1 with five finishes after dropping her debut to Leslie Smith to earn a title shot against Zhang Weili at UFC 292. "Amandinha" has had mixed fortunes since dropping a decision to "Magnum," alternating wins over current champion Mackenzie Dern and Iasmin Lucindo with defeats to Virna Jandiroba and Tatiana Suarez last time out. The Brazilian is known for her fast twitch, high output striking style, although she has struggled with grapplers in the past. She was last seen dropping a decision to the aforementioned Suarez, scoring late damage in a fight where she found herself grounded by the American's takedowns for the vast majority of the contest.
Gillian Robertson: "The Savage" looks to score the biggest victory of her career and add to a four fight win streak
Don't look now, but UFC veteran, Gillian Robertson (16-8), has quietly put together a four fight win streak, beating the likes of Marina Rodriguez, Michelle Waterson-Gomez, and Polyana Viana since coming up short to Tabatha Ricci in June 2023. Owner of a 13-6 UFC record since joining the promotion as a 23 year old prospect, "The Savage" is known for her finishing potential as soon as the action hits the mat, scoring nine submissions in sixteen professional outings to underline this state of affairs. However, while the Canadian tends to make short work of most opponents near her in the rankings, Robertson typically comes up short when faced with the upper echelon of the division.
Amanda Lemos vs Gillian Robertson prediction
Lemos might have the edge when it comes to experience against the better fighters in the division, but it's unsurprising that she's the underdog at this point in her career. "Amandinha" is 38 and has struggled against grapplers in the past; two out of her three stoppage defeats have come by way of tap out.
That bodes ill when faced with a submission specialist of Robertson's caliber. "The Savage" is not a particularly good striker, but what she lacks on the feet, she more than makes up for on the mat. A precocious back taker, the Canadian relentlessly hunts the finish as soon as the action hits the floor. She will also chip away with spiteful ground and pound shots, looking to find openings to snatch up submissions or to simply hammer away for the finish.
This is the type of fight that we might have picked Robertson to lose in the past, but her stoppage victory over Marina Rodriguez proved that she's arguably turned a corner when it comes to beating the higher levels of competition the division has to offer. The Canadian is tough as nails and hasn't been knocked out since losing to Maycee Barber back in 2019; while Lemos is known for her stoppage heavy streak that earned her a title shot, she hasn't actually scored a finish since 2022.
Robertson either finds the Brazilian's back to snatch up an early RNC or dominates the action with top control and ground and pound to earn a decision victory.
Prediction: Gillian Robertson to win
