Terrance Chatman: "The Answer" debuts attempting to shock the world in his first fight with the promotion
Poised to make a short notice UFC debut, Terrance Chatman’s (5-1) first fight with the promotion will see him compete as a significant underdog. There isn’t a great deal of quality footage on the 4 oz Fight Club representative, but the Fury FC alum appears to primarily be a boxer, chopping low kicks to set up his punches and occasionally shooting a takedown to keep his opponents guessing. “The Answer” has earned four stoppages in five fights and has never been finished, but he’s only beaten one fighter with a winning record in his career to date.
Anthony Wint: The former NFL linebacker arrives as a colossal favorite less than a fortnight after scoring a contract
Fresh off a 34 second beatdown of Matt Adams on the Contender Series, Anthony Wint (7-0) makes his UFC debut just eleven days after earning a contract. A former NFL linebacker, “Bow Down’s” power and athleticism has seen him run roughshod over his opposition to date, with all but one of his seven wins coming by way of brutal finish. The Kill Cliff FC representative’s background in American football has seen him wrestle with impressive results, rag dolling multiple opponents en route to victory. However, while he’s a powerful striker, Wint's aggression means that he does leave openings to be countered.
Terrance Chatman vs Anthony Wint prediction
What is this matchmaking? A quick glance at the odds for this one highlight the fact that this looks to be more of a case of the UFC looking to build a name off Wint with a quick turnaround from his Contender Series demolition job rather than a competitive fight.
Chatman is the bigger man in this match up and is a slight step up in competition from Matt Adams, but not to the point that I think he’s likely to score the upset here. He’s got power and has never been finished, but he’s been largely fighting cans on the regional circuit throughout his career. This is his first fight in the promotion, to say nothing of the short notice nature of the matchup and the pressure of a debut under the bright lights.
As is going to be the case in most of his match ups, Wint is going to have a huge edge in speed and athleticism here. I think this is going to look pretty similar to the Adams fight, with Wint teeing off big strikes in the early stages to force Chatman back before he can get his feet under him. From there, I see him blasting him up with strikes against the cage or muscling him to the mat and hammering away with GNP for the finish.
Prediction: Anthony Wint to win by first round TKO
