Tottenham preview: Showing fight

In the last ten days or so, Tottenham may well be showing some fight. Spurs even showed that in the second-half of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 first-leg against Atletico Madrid, a game in which they lost 5-2 at the Metropolitano.

Last weekend, Spurs pulled off a draw against Liverpool at Anfield with a late Richarlison equaliser before then pulling off a surprise second-leg win against Los Rojiblancos in midweek as they succumbed to a 7-5 aggregate loss.

Nottingham Forest preview: Surprise win

Nottingham Forest pulled off a surprise midweek win as they managed to come from a goal down after the first-leg to take Midtjylland to penalties and get through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League.

Forest have now won two games under Vitor Pereira – but they have both been in Europe. In the league, their goalless draw with Fulham means that they are now winless in their last seven matches.

Tottenham team news: Hopeful on Solanke

After just being named in England’s squad for the March international break, Igor Tudor has said he is hopeful that Dominic Solanke will be available for this one.

Portugal international Joao Palhinha has returned to training, too, and there has been a surprise update that James Maddison could return before the end of this season.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Vicario; Danso, Romero, Van de Ven; Porro, Gray, Sarr, Spence; Tel, Solanke, Richarlison

Unavailable: Davies (Injured), Bentancur (Injured), Bergvall (Injured), Bissouma (Injured), Maddison (Injured), Kudus (Injured), Kulusevski (Injured), Odobert (Injured)

Questionable: Palhinha (Fitness), Solanke (Injured)

Nottingham Forest team news: CHO left out

Callum Hudson-Odoi was left out against Midtjylland in midweek. The Englishman travelled and no injury has been reported but he was left out of the squad.

Jair Cunha is expected to miss out again this weekend with Forest also remaining without the likes of John, Willy Boly, Nicolo Savona and Chris Wood.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sels; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Anderson, Sangare; Hutchinson, Gibbs-White, Dominguez; Jesus

Unavailable: John (Injured), Jair (Injured), Boly (Injured), Savona (Injured), Wood (Injured)

Questionable:

Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest prediction

Ahead of this match day, West Ham United sit 18th on 29 points as they face Aston Villa at the same time as this game kicks off, with Forest above on goal difference, Tottenham Hotspur a point ahead and then Leeds United on 32 points with the Whites playing Brentford on Saturday night. This, the final week before the March international break, is crucial. Spurs have shown fight but it has gone from a couple of free hits to absolute must win territory. That will cause tension and nerves. Forest will sit back, as is the want of Pereira – but also perhaps their only way of knowing how to play. Regardless of the end result, it will be tense and gripping but it may not be overly thrilling in terms of goals scored.

Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest tip: Under 2.5 goals
