Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Stefanos Tsitsipas prediction
Tomas Martin Etcheverry had struggled for the majority of the clay season, not making it past the second-round of any of the five ATP Tour events he competed in along with a Challenger in Turin. However, the Argentine made a breakthrough in his most recent event last week in Hamburg. He defeated compatriots Francisco Comesana, Camilo Ugo Carabelli and Czech Republic’s Jiri Lehecka to get to the semi-finals. He took the first set against Flavio Cobolli but lost in three sets.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has not had the clay court campaign he would have hoped up to now, and is now outside the top 10 of the world rankings for the first time since October 2018. He couldn’t defend his title in Monte-Carlo, losing in the quarter-finals to Lorenzo Musetti and was then forced to withdraw from his next last-eight clash at the Barcelona Open against Arthur Fils due to injury. The 2021 French Open finalist then lost to Musetti and Fils again at the Madrid and Italian Opens respectively, with the Greek failing to get beyond the third-round in either.
Nevertheless, Tsitsipas dominated Etcheverry in their only previous encounter at Monte-Carlo last year, winning 6-1 6-0. Despite the Argentine’s revival in Hamburg last week, Tsitsipas will still be the overwhelming favourite to make it through.
Tomas Martin Etcheverry vs Stefanos Tsitsipas tip: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win 3-0 or 3-1
