Lorenzo Sonego vs Moise Kouame prediction

Lorenzo Sonego has endured a difficult 2026, struggling with injury and consistency, having now slipped to 87 in the world. He reached the second-round in Chengdu last month, defeating James Duckworth before a three set defeat to Jenson Brooksby.  His subsequent results have been disappointing, with qualifying defeats in Tokyo and Shanghai. Sonego does have an encouraging record indoors, having won a title at the 2022 Moselle Open. 

He will play Moise Kouame in the first-round. The teenager has established himself in the world’s top 250 at just 17 years old. The French teenager’s standout achievement came at Roland Garros, where he defeated Marin Cilic and Adolfo Daniel Vallejo to reach the third-round. Kouame received a wildcard for this event, but his recent form has been less encouraging, with four losses from his last five matches.

Kouame is likely to raise his game in front of a home crowd, but I expect Sonego’s superior serving ability and experience to give him a slight advantage.
