How many points are needed to make the League 1 play-offs?

Two of three teams will earn promotion to the Championship from an enthralling race to finish in the top two in League 1 but the odd team out will be forced to keep their season alive in the play-offs.

Plymouth, Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday are all enjoying strong campaigns and have each reached the 90-point mark but it will not be enough for one of those teams come their 46th and final game. For those still battling below them, they will need to be very good to topple the side that fails to claim automatic promotion but the race is still on to even be in contention. The average needed to make sixth spot since 1995/96 is 74 points but Derby, the current occupiers of sixth, have already surpassed that and it highlights how unfortunate the teams below them will be to miss out.
