THE PREDICTION

World number 51 Magda Linette has found some solid form on clay in recent weeks, beating Lin Zhu in straight sets on Wednesday to react well from an impressive three-set exit to Aryna Sabalenka in the third round of the Madrid Open last time out. The 32-year-old finished runner-up to Sloane Stephens at the Rouen Open this time last month, also in three sets, and a run to the round of 16 in Charleston before that needed top seed Jessica Pegula to oust her – suggesting she stands a decent chance at an upset here.

Former world number one also lost to Pegula in Charleston, in three sets one round deeper than Linette, but a straight-sets exit to Sara Sorribes Tormo in Madrid last time out was avoidable. The 34-year-old has been in excellent form this season overall, recently reaching the semi-finals of the Miami Open before a three-set exit to Elena Rybakina, but Linette won two of their three encounters last season to pull just one behind the Belarussian in their 3-2 head-to-head record. Azarenka has won at least a set in all five of their matches so far so take that cautious option to leave the result up to chance.

TIP: VICTORIA AZARENKA TO WIN A SET
