TOMAS MACHAC VS CASPER RUUD PREDICTION
World number seven Casper Ruud fought back from a set down to oust Flavio Cobolli in just under two hours on Saturday, having to play his semi-final this morning due to rain yesterday, and that leaves the door wide open for Tomas Machac to claim his maiden ATP title.
23-year-old Machac has been improving steadily on tour over the past 12 months but a three-set victory over Novak Djokovic on Friday, admittedly an unrecognisable version of the world number one, was not in the script this week. The Czech will break inside the top 40 for the first time no matter the outcome here but he has to be favoured to out-last Ruud, with two hours in his legs, if he can play smart and aim to tire the Norwegian out even further.
There is a reasonable chance that Ruud pulls up during this match, as he would be mad to jeopardise Roland-Garros after finishing runner-up there in each of the last two seasons, so back Machac to win outright here to guard against a default.
