Former world number 30 Shelby Rogers comes into the Miami Open on a protected ranking as she desperately seeks a run of games to settle down after her latest injury absence. The 31-year-old has not won a match since late April at the Madrid Open last season, bringing a six-match losing streak into Miami after a tough start to her comeback against Emma Raducanu at the Australian Open. World number 138 Linda Fruhvirtova could do with a run of her own after failing to qualify for each of her last three tournaments. The 18-year-old has failed to beat anyone ranked inside the top 100 this season in a run of poor form that stretches back to her semi-final exit at the Ningbo Open last September but unless Rogers is back up to near her best this is the Czech’s to lose.
