THE PREDICTION
18-year-old Robin Montgomery received a wildcard to make her second appearance at the US Open after making her debut at 15 years old back in 2020. The teenager will set a new career-high WTA world ranking of around 142nd for doing so but she faces a creditable chance at more here against qualifier Eva Lys, who comes in ranked at 143rd. The 21-year-old is probably the favourite on form, though, after blasting through qualifying without dropping a set and recently claiming a huge win over Mayar Sherif at the Hamburg Open on clay.
