She faces Elvina Kalieva in round one. The American enters the main draw as a lucky loser, following the withdrawal of Alina Korneeva. Kalieva has won a WTA 125 title in San Diego this year, while her best result on the full WTA Tour was a run to the semi-finals in Memphis. She last competed in Seoul, losing in the first-round after a heavy defeat to Katie Volynets.
