The 26-year-old took a set from Nick Kyrgios in a second round defeat to the Aussie at the US Open last season and hardcourt conditions favour his hard-hitting, honest playstyle in this first meeting with Mattia Bellucci. 21-year-old Bellucci set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 152nd after qualifying with flying colours to make his Grand Slam debut here at the Australian Open and he enjoyed some success on the Challenger circuit last season as yet another young Italian talent. It would be a surprise to see Bonzi lose here but straight sets is always a tough call against a relative unknown who has fought hard for the biggest match of his career.
