The Italian was a crucial part of the team that won the Davis Cup title late last season and he should be much-improved on his opener here in Rome with a clear penchant for representing his country.
World number 24 Nicolas Jarry brings a concerning four-match losing streak into Rome after losing to another young Italian, Flavio Cobolli, this time two weeks ago. The 28-year-old has struggled to find anything like his peak form from last season so far in 2024, despite stunning Carlos Alcaraz at the Buenos Aires Open in February, and two tight three-set wins over Arnaldi in their previous two meetings suggests there is an upset on the cards.
