World number 17 Cam Norrie received a bye to the round of 16 at the Zhuhai Championships as the second seed this week and he has been fortunate to draw what looks to be a kind opener against qualifier Marc Polmans. 28-year-old Norrie has struggled with his form all summer but there were brief moments of quality in his two Davis Cup defeats last week in Manchester, particularly in a tight three-setter against Ugo Humbert. World number 152 Polmans has shot through his Zhuhai campaign so far, conceding just five games in qualifying before dropping only four more against Dane Sweeny in the first round, but this should be several leagues too far. Norrie is too good, and too much of a work horse, to stay down for long and he should have enough to win this first encounter in straight sets.
