THE PREDICTION

20-year-old Luca Nardi grabbed perhaps the biggest win of his entire career to come with an incredible three-set upset over an out-of-sorts world number one Novak Djokovic on Monday. The Italian is leading a charmed life this fortnight at Indian Wells, enjoying a double walkover as a lucky loser from qualifying through to the second round, but wins over Djokovic and Zhizhen Zhang since have earned him his place in the last 16 of a Masters event for the first time and he will break inside the top 100 on tour no matter the outcome here.

World number 17 Tommy Paul looks capable of spoiling the party here, though, after a very impressive straight-sets victory over in-form Ugo Humbert. The 26-year-old should still receive something of a partisan atmosphere here on home soil, despite Nardi’s newfound fame, and he is certainly one of the more level-headed high performers on tour – capable of playing the match and not the occasion against a youngster with nothing to lose. Back Paul to win outright.

TIP: TOMMY PAUL TO WIN
