THE PREDICTION

World number nine Felix Auger-Aliassime overcame a tough foe in Maxime Cressy over three sets on Tuesday to steady himself in this Dubai Tennis Championships campaign. The 22-year-old’s last two defeats came at the hands of Daniil Medvedev, who went on to win both the Rotterdam Open and Qatar Open, and whilst those results are no great embarrassment the Canadian does now trail Medvedev 0-6 in their head-to-head. World number 67 Lorenzo Sonego is far better than his current ranking suggests but the Italian has lacked consistency and ruthlessness for much of the last 12 months on tour. A straight-sets victory over Marc-Andrea Huesler was a solid start on Monday but Auger-Aliassime should be battle-hardened after a tough February and he leads their head-to-head 2-0 after winning their first round encounter in Rotterdam last month. Back the Canadian to win in two.
