17-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova is one of many Czech rising stars suddenly upsetting the order of things on the WTA tour and she ended last season with a maiden WTA title claimed at the Chennai Open. The world number 82 beat Victoria Azarenka at the Miami Open last spring to announce herself on the world stage and she won her Grand Slam debut at the US Open before a second round exit to Garbine Muguruza. The teenager looks too tough a prospect for 23-year-old Jaimee Fourlis, who received a wildcard at the Australian Open as a home hopeful with some decent results on the ITF and Futures circuits late last season. Two competitive defeats to Marta Kostyuk and Ekaterina Alexandrova so far in 2023 are encouraging but Fruhvirtova is the real deal. Back the Czech to win outright.
