THE PREDICTION

World number one Iga Swiatek dug deep to come back from 4-1 down in the third set against former Australian Open finalist Danielle Collins, backing-up a tough opener against a former champion in Sofia Kenin. The 22-year-old should be better for the early challenges here in Melbourne after so often coasting through to the latter stages before she meets anyone capable of stopping her but it does not get much easier here against rising star Linda Noskova, who has beaten the likes of Mirra Andreeva and Marie Bouzkova already this season. Swiatek beat Noskova in straight sets en-route to the Poland Open title last summer and she rides an 18-match winning streak into their rematch to look the consummate favourite. However, a dropped set against Collins is proof that the Pole can falter if put under the sort of pressure she exerts on others. This should fall in straight sets to the top seed but it would be wise to take Swiatek outright inside an accumulator against Czechia’s eldest of many teenage up-and-comers

TIP: IGA SWIATEK TO WIN 2-0
