Team World has Team Europe beaten mentally before they took to the court for the final doubles match of the day, with Ben Shelton and Felix Auger-Aliassime both impressing in their singles efforts. 23-year-old Auger-Aliassime exorcised some recent demons with a straight-sets result over Gael Monfils in the third singles match on Friday and that should see him boosted for this debut partnership alongside Shelton, with the pair looking an excellent proposition as a right-hander and left-hander with big serves each. 26-year-old Hubert Hurkacz is by far the best doubles player of the four as a former world number 30 last season, with two of his four doubles titles won at Masters level including the 2020 Paris Masters alongside today’s foe Auger-Aliassime. The doubles clash relies a lot on what has happened in the day but it seems likely that a deciding tiebreak will be required. Take that option if available or back Auger-Aliassime and Shelton to earn at least a set backed by raucous home advantage.
