36-year-old Tatjana Maria was hammered 6-0 6-1 by fellow veteran Sara Errani at the Transylvania Open on Thursday as she continues to struggle for consistency on tour. The German has failed to win back-to-back matches since reaching the quarter-finals of the Guangzhou Open last September but, notably, she has won her opening match in each of her last eight tournaments to suggest she will be tough to beat here. World number 75 Greet Minnen reached the semi-finals in Guangzhou, one further than Maria, last September but she has failed to win a tour-level match since to bring a six-match losing streak into Qatar.
