THE PREDICTION

Former world number 10 Emma Raducanu has so far impressed on her return to the WTA tour from three surgeries, taking a 3-3 record into the Qatar Masters on her protected ranking. The 21-year-old was just edged out by Elina Svitolina at the Auckland Classic last month but victories over Shelby Rogers and Marie Bouzkova in recent weeks put her working level, when fit, at roughly inside the top 40. World number 32 Anhelina Kalinina struggled to make a dent on this portion of the tour last season before bursting into the form of her career on her favoured clay, finishing runner-up to Elena Rybakina at the Rome Masters in May. The 27-year-old snapped a five-match losing streak at the Abu Dhabi Open this week before drawing a very short straw in former finalist Liudmila Samsonova but she should be better for a confidence-boosting result nonetheless.

Kalinina beat Raducanu in three sets at the Madrid Masters, on clay, in 2022 but hardcourt conditions better-suit the Brit. Raducanu has won in the first round of each of her three tournaments so far this season and she can be backed to do the same here.

TIP: EMMA RADUCANU TO WIN
