THE PREDICTION
Former world number seven David Goffin is one of the harder players to predict on tour these days after several years of erratic form. The current world number 50 has still managed to win a title in each of the past two seasons, most recently at the Marrakech Open on clay, but it feels like Goffin’s good performances come at a 1:2 ratio with his bad right now. That makes this one of the more interesting matches on Tuesday as 28-year-old Laurent Lokoli plays in only his fifth Grand Slam match after qualifying well last week. The Frenchman set a career-high ATP world ranking of 175th this week after reaching a Challenger final two weeks ago and he will be dangerous here with nothing to lose as he seeks out his first ever tour-level win, let alone win at a major tournament. Goffin should, realistically, be coming through in straight sets but with that option not worth following in the markets consider a one-off on Lokoli to earn at least a set here.
