35-year-old Jeremy Chardy makes a welcome return to the ATP tour after missing more than a year since his last match in a first round loss to Matteo Berrettini at the US Open in 2021. The former world number 25 had enjoyed a renaissance season in 2021 but serious injury threatened to end his career, with this his first singles match back after playing three doubles matches in Adelaide and Auckland so far this year.
