World number 113 Alexei Popyrin claimed a maiden ATP title at the Singapore Open almost two years ago but after a solid 2021 season the Aussie endured a torrid 2022. 23-year-old Popyrin exorcised some of those demons, though, with a stunning 2023 opening victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime at Adelaide 1 en-route to the quarter-finals there and he took defending champion Thanasi Kokkinakis to three sets at Adelaide 2 last week. World number 115 Chun Hsin Tseng qualified for the Next Gen ATP Finals late last season but the 21-year-old lost all three of his group games. Popyrin beat Tseng in straight sets at this stage of the US Open last season in one of his very few wins on tour and he can be backed to do the same here, although an outright pick would be better suited to an accumulator.
