21-year-old Marta Kostyuk proved herself the up-and-comer we had expected for some time with an excellent run to the quarte-finals of the Australian Open last month, the same tournament she first burst onto the scene in at 15 years old. The Ukrainian set a career-high WTA world ranking of 28th for here efforts and she will be eager to build on that momentum, ended in three tight sets by Coco Gauff, whilst targeting more consistency from her game. World number 43 Caroline Dolehide also lost to Gauff at the Australian Open, in the second round, to bring a 2-4 record for 2024 into the Qatar Masters. The 25-year-old ended last season with a remarkable run to the Guadalajara Masters final before defeat to Maria Sakkari, beating the likes of Ekaterina Alexandrova and Sofia Kenin en-route. Kostyuk may start a little sluggishly but Dolehide has struggled to find that level since her run last September to suggest this could be a short stay in Doha. Back Kostyuk to win outright.
