THE PREDICTION

22-year-old Thiago Agustin Tirante set a career-high ATP world ranking of 150th earlier this month after some strong work on the Challenger circuit this season and he qualified impressively this week to make his Grand Slam debut. The Argentine has nothing to lose on the biggest day of his young career here and he could have caught world number 31 Botic van de Zandschulp at a good time as the Dutchman comes into Paris on a three-match losing streak. 27-year-old Van de Zandschulp finished runner-up to Holger Rune at the Munich Open last month, for the second time in successive years after injury saw him concede his maiden tour final to the Dane last season, and it seems like the emotional hangover from that defeat affected both his Madrid and Rome campaigns. Van de Zandschulp first came into form here two years ago with a five-set upset over Hubert Hurkacz and it took Rafael Nadal to oust him from the third round here last season but this could be a choppy opener. Back the Dutchman to win outright here or consider a one-off on Tirante to earn at least a set.
