Coco Gauff will get a chance at some quick revenge when she faces Magda Linette in the third round in Rome.

The fourth seed was surprisingly beaten 6-4 6-4 by the Pole in Miami recently but she has gone up a level since that meeting, reaching the final in Madrid last time out. 

Gauff survived an early scare to breeze past teenager Victoria Mboko 3-6 6-2 6-1 in the second round, while Linette also came from behind to oust Maria Sakkari by a 1-6 6-4 6-1 scoreline. 

The 32nd seed will hope to repeat her Miami heroics but Gauff does lead the head-to-head 2-1 and the former US Open champion’s resilience should ensure she does set the record straight here.
