BIANCA ANDREESCU VS SARA SORRIBES TORMO PREDICTION
Former world number four Bianca Andreescu returns to tour from her latest lengthy injury lay-off, with her last match coming on home soil at the Montreal Masters last August and her last win a second round result at Wimbledon in July. The 2019 US Open champion is still only 23 years old but has barely played a full summer swing, with 2021 the only season she was able to play all four Grand Slams in a row.
World number 46 Sara Sorribes Tormo is a tough draw for anyone on her favoured clay but the Spaniard’s penchant for a baseline battle could actually play into Andreescu’s favour as the Canadian desperately seeks time on court.
Andreescu beat the Spaniard in three sets at the Miami Masters back in 2021 but Sorribes Tormo, who came within a hair’s breadth of reaching the last eight here last season, is in fine form on clay and well capable of weathering any early storms.
