20-year-old Ben Shelton broke the top 100 on the ATP tour before even leaving the United States late last year with three Challenger titles won on the spin and an incredible victory over Casper Ruud at the Cincinnati Masters. The American set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 89th this week after making the main draw on his Australian Open debut and he claimed a win in his first ever match abroad last week, beating Sebastian Baez in straight sets in Auckland. 26-year-old Zhizhen Zhang made some of his own history late last year when he became the first male Chinese player to break the top 100 on the ATP tour after a bug run to the quarter-finals of the Napoli Cup last October, also beating poor Baez. Sets seem likely to go both ways here and this first meeting between the two could well see five sets after both players lost by five in the first round of the US Open last season. However, Shelton is a rising star on sport mode right now and he can be backed to come through the outright winner.
