THE PREDICTION

18-year-old Jakub Mensik cemented his status as a serious up-and-comer with a brilliant three-set victory, via three tight tiebreaks, over Andy Murray on Wednesday. The Czech will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 102nd for his efforts so far but this should be too steep of a challenge against world number five Andrey Rublev, who looks the solid favourite to lift his second Qatar Open title this weekend. The 26-year-old beat Richard Gasquet in straight sets on Wednesday bounce back from last week’s tough quarter-final exit to Alex de Minaur at the Rotterdam Open but he picked up a 16th ATP title at the Hong Kong Open last month to prove his enduring efficacy at this level. Mensik took Hubert Hurkacz to five sets before defeat in the second round of the Australian Open and he should not be underestimated here. Take Rublev to win outright, with three sets about as likely as two.

TIP: ANDREY RUBLEV TO WIN
