THE PREDICTION

World number 16 Roberto Bautista Agut was near-perfect on Wednesday, dismissing an out-of-sorts Andy Murray for just one game conceded. The 33-year-old won the most recent of his nine career ATP titles at the Qatar Open back in 2019 but he finished runner-up to Nikoloz Basilashvili here last season in something of a surprising result. RBA faces fellow Spaniard ADF, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, after the 22-year-old came back superbly to beat in-form Dan Evans in three quality sets. The world number 47 should break his career-high ATP world ranking of 32nd this year if his 2021 clay swing was anything to by, with a stunning run to the quarter-finals of Roland-Garros the stand-out campaign of his young career so far.

ADF was the surprise winner of the only previous meeting between these two in straight sets at last season’s Rotterdam Open. However, RBA has been in largely scintillating form this year and he can be backed to return the favour with an outright win.
