THE PREDICTION
This should be an entertaining first encounter between world number 21 Francisco Cerundolo and number 25 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina with sets likely to go both ways. 24-year-old Davidovich Fokina reached the semi-finals of the Canada Masters this time last month with some huge victories over Casper Ruud and Alexander Zverev but he struggled under the pressure of playing first option for Spain in the Davis Cup Group Stages last week, losing two of his three matches as the hosts crashed out of the competition. 25-year-old Cerundolo enjoyed some excellent form this summer on clay and grass, reaching the round of 16 at a Grand Slam for the first time at Roland-Garros before claiming his second ATP title at the Eastbourne International, but the Argentine has won just two of his five matches since the tour returned to hardcourts.
This is a really tough call between two players in need of a strong performance. With Team World likely 1-0 up at this stage, consider backing ADF to earn at least a set as the slightly more comfortable in these conditions. Cerundolo may yet thrive in a team format, though, so taking this match to see three sets could be the most suitable away to avoid picking a winner.
