The 17-year-old is the highest seed left in the draw at third and a first meeting with Croatia’s Ana Konjuh looks a winnable one in her current form after it took a comeback win from world number one Ash Barty to oust her last week in Adelaide. World number 65 Konjuh is steadily making her way back up the WTA world rankings after a series of torrid injury spells saw the former world number 20 disappear into the tennis wilderness for a few years. The 24-year-old came back from a set down to beat the sixth seed Marketa Vondrousova on Wednesday but it would take a whole lot more to beat this incredible teenager. Gauff should take this in two but Konjuh has played well enough this week to make an outright win the sensible option.
