World number 28 Taylor fritz is suddenly nearing a return to his career-high of 24th in the ATP world rankings after an incredible burst of form at Indian Wells has transferred over to the St. Petersburg Open. The 24-year-old is yet to drop a set in three solid performances against Emil Ruusuvuori, Tommy Paul and John Millman and he should feel confident of reaching the final now facing world number 51 Jan-Lennard Struff despite the German’s result on Friday. 31-year-old Struff has also enjoyed a spotless campaign so far against a myriad of playing styles in James Duckworth, Alexander Bublik and Denis Shapovalov, the latter of whom is admittedly in poor form but beating the world number 13 is one of Struff’s best results of the season. Struff was the winner of their only previous meeting at Wimbledon in 2019 over four sets but this current edition of Taylor Fritz is full of self-belief that should haul him over the line here.
