World number 11 Felix Auger-Aliassime was caught cold by Gianluca Mager in the first round of the Paris Masters but eh came back well to win in three sets. The 21-year-old won the Men’s Doubles here last year alongside Hubert Hurkacz but the pair are now in direct competition, alongside Jannik Sinner, Cam Norrie and Casper Ruud, to secure the last two places in the ATP Finals. Auger-Aliassime has so far finished runner-up at eight tournaments without winning a first ATP title. World number 58 Dominik Koepfer is an excellent clay court player but he proved himself worthy on any surface with a thoroughly impressive victory over Andy Murray on Monday. The German came in as a lucky loser after Jenson Brooksby was forced to withdraw and he played like a man with nothing to lose.
