THE PREDICTION

35-year-old Pablo Andujar is on a four-match losing streak coming into the first round of the Australian Open to face world number 206 Quentin Halys for the first time. The 23-year-old Frenchman is in no great shape himself after losing to Yuichi Sugita last week, though he did well in the qualifiers to make the first round here for the fourth time in his young career. Halys has made the second round just once back in 2016 and has been involved in some notably lengthy defeats, most recently in five sets to Casper Ruud and Filip Krajinovic in his last two appearances. Spanish veteran Andujar is well capable of going toe-to-toe physically here and despite lacking any real form to speak of he should fancy his chances at making it through in four or five. Both to take at least a set in an Andujar win looks on here.
