- 28-year-old Coria is making his debut here at the Australian Open after failing to qualify last season, with a third round loss at last year’s Roland-Garros his personal Grand Slam milestone to beat.
MILOS RAONIC
- 30-year-old Milos Raonic was beaten by an in-form Jan-Lennard Struff to see Team Canada lose out in the group stages of the ATP Cup earlier this week.
- The world number 15 has an excellent record at the Australian Open having reached at least the quarter-finals in five of his last six appearances here in Melbourne, losing to Andy Murray in the semi-finals in 2016.
THE PREDICTION
Milos Raonic will have been disappointed to lose to Jan-Lennard Struff in the ATP Cup considering how good the Canadian played in his first Team Canada match. The world number 15 ended 2020 in some very promising form and if he can stay fit, which is always the caveat with Raonic, he should be threatening the latter stages of this tournament yet again. Back-to-back quarter-finals in his last two seasons in Melbourne is the target at least this time around and he should have little trouble beating Federico Coria in straight sets here to reach the second round unscathed.
