Southampton vs Burnley Prediction

Ivan Juric earned his first league win as Southampton boss last weekend as Saints now welcome Scott Parker’s relentlessly defensive and frustrating to watch Burnley this weekend.

Southampton come into this one on the back of a 2-1 win away at Ipswich Town at Portman Road with Saints’ improved performances now finally getting a second win of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign. They dispatched of Swansea City by three goals to nil in the third round last month thanks to an excellent performance by Tyler Dibling.

Scott Parker has grinded his way to two Championship promotions with Fulham and AFC Bournemouth and he is doing the same again. The Clarets edged past Oxford United by two goals to nil at the weekend and they have conceded just nine goals all season in the second-tier with 21 clean sheets in that time, scoring 37 goals in 31 games.

Of those 37 in 31, 14 of them have come in just three matches as they sit tucked inside the top two and the automatic promotion spots on goal difference. Southampton may well find it difficult to break Burnley down and a low-scoring bet in favour of the visitors may be good value.

Southampton vs Burnley Tip: Double chance – Burnley to win or draw & under 3.5 goals
