THE TEAM NEWS

CATALANS DRAGONS

  • Catalans Dragons were far from their best but did enough to make it two wins from two as they overcame Leigh Leopards in a gritty round 2 contest last week.
  • The Dragons will now go in search of a third successive win to begin the campaign and welcome back a handful of players from injury with Sio Siua Taukeiaho, Manu Ma’u, Mike McMeeken and Tyrone May all named in the 21-man squad but Sam Tomkins has been ruled out.

21-man squad: Mourgue, Davies, Keighran, Laguerre, May, McMeeken, McIlorum, Bousquet, Seguier, Garcia, Goudemand, Navarrete, Rouge, Chan, Romano, Taukeiaho, Dezaria, Johnstone, Scimone, Ma’u, Tison

Unavailable: Fouad Yaha (Injured), Mitchell Pearce (Injured), Matt Whitley (Injured), Sam Tomkins (Injured)

Questionable: Sio Siua Taukeiaho, Manu Ma’u, Mike McMeeken, Tyrone May

HULL FC

  • Hull FC scored a late try to edge Leeds Rhinos last week as they earned a second straight win to start the season but there is still lots of room for improvement on both sides of the ball.
  • It will be interesting to see how the Black and Whites go on this trip where they will be without prop Scott Taylor after he was handed a one-match ban but Andre Savelio and Ligi Sao are pushing to return from injury.

21-man squad: Hoy, Swift, Sutcliffe, McIntosh, Clifford, Sao, Houghton, Satae, Savelio, Lane, Fash, Lovodua, Cator, Evans, Scott, McNamara, Brown, Griffin, Litten, Shaul, Dwyer

Unavailable: Carlos Tuimavave (Injured), Connor Wynne (Injured), Jake Trueman (Injured), Mitieli Vulikijapani (Injured), Scott Taylor (Suspended)

Questionable: Ligi Sao, Andre Savelio, Jamie Shaul

THE PREDICTION

Both of these teams have won each of their opening two games of the season but something will have to give as Catalans Dragons host Hull FC. The French side were nowhere near their best as they stuttered to the win over newly-promoted Leigh Leopards while Hull can also improve after getting the better of Leeds Rhinos. There is nothing to split these two teams but with the Dragons still looking light in the spine, preference is just for the away side with the benefit of a +6.5 start on the handicap.
