THE TEAM NEWS

MANLY SEA EAGLES

  • Manly Sea Eagles impressed on their trip to Las Vegas as they ran out winners against South Sydney Rabbitohs, prevailing in a high-scoring contest.
  • Manly will need to be better defensively if they are to compete this season but their quality with the ball stood out with new signing Luke Brooks performing very well. The Sea Eagles will look to give the ball some air once again but they have lost winger Jason Saab to a hamstring injury.

Starting 13: 1. Tom Trbojevic 2. Tommy Talau 3. Tolutau Koula 4. Reuben Garrick 5. Jaxson Paulo 6. Luke Brooks 7. Daly Cherry-Evans 8. Taniela Paseka 9. Lachlan Croker 10. Josh Aloiai 11. SYDNEY ROOSTERS

  • Sydney Roosters laid down a marker for the campaign as they too were successful in the United States, overcoming Brisbane Broncos.
  • The Roosters were impressive on both sides of the ball but that win was overshadowed by Spencer Leniu’s racial slur that has seen him cop an eight-game ban with Jared Waerea-Hargreaves taking his spot after serving a suspension of his own while England international Dom Young will make his Roosters debut.

Starting 13: 1. James Tedesco 2. Daniel Tupou 3. Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii 4. Joseph Manu 5. Dominic Young 6. Luke Keary 7. Sam Walker 8. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves 9. Brandon Smith 10. Lindsay Collins 11. THE PREDICTION

Manly Sea Eagles and Sydney Roosters were both able to enjoy the week off on the back of their successful trips to the USA. Manly toppled South Sydney Rabbitohs while the Roosters got the better of Brisbane Broncos and they will now aim to back those efforts up in Round 2. Manly could well be involved in plenty of contests that yield a lot of points this year but if it does turn into a shootout, the Roosters are backed to get the better of them.

TIP: SYDNEY ROOSTERS TO WIN
