THE TEAM NEWS

MANLY SEA EAGLES

  • Manly Sea Eagles looked set to make it three straight wins to get their season back on track but they suffered an inexplicable capitulation late on in their clash with North Queensland Cowboys which saw them fall to defeat and subsequently, remain outside the top eight.
  • The Sea Eagles held a 14-point advantage over their opponents with just seven minutes remain but they somehow allowed that lead to be overturned and in their quest to bounce back here, they will be without Josh Aloiai who suffered a head knock on international duty last week.

Starting 13: Garrick, Saab, Harper, Koula, Tuipulotu, Foran, Cherry-Evans, Keppie, Croker, Sipley, Olakau’atu, Davey, J. Trbojevic – Interchanges: Walker, Schuster, Taupau, Paseka – Reserves: B. Trbojevic, De Luis, Bullemor, Taufua, Weekes

Unavailable: Brad Parker, Karl Lawton, Morgan Boyle, Tom Trbojevic, Josh Aloiai

MELBOURNE STORM

  • Melbourne Storm were given a scare in the first half of their clash with Brisbane Broncos in their most recent encounter but showed their class in the second period as they ran out winners, making it three straight successes.
  • ● The Storm have some improvements to make on the back of that effort but they have lost Felise Kaufusi for personal reasons while Cameron Munster is a doubt having copped a shoulder injury during Sunday’s State of Origin contest.

Starting 13: Meaney, Ieremia, Seve, Olam, Anderson, Munster, Hughes, J. Bromwich, H. Grant, King, Lewis, K. Bromwich, B. Smith – Interchanges: Nikorima, Kamikamica, Eisenhuth, Asofa-Solomona – Reserves: MacDonald, Papenhuyzen, Wishart, J. Grant, Garlick

Unavailable: Christian Welch, George Jennings, Tepai Moeroa, Reimis Smith, Xavier Coates, Trent Loiero, Felise Kaufusi

THE PREDICTION

Manly Sea Eagles have had a while to stew on how they succumbed to defeat against North Queensland Cowboys last time out and their response to that defeat will be fascinating. The Sea Eagles conceded 16 points in the final seven minutes of the contest and they will be eager to start this one quickly. They face a tough task against Melbourne Storm, a side with three successive wins to their name having overcome the challenge of Brisbane Broncos in their most recent clash. Key man Cameron Munster is doubt for the game but Ryan Papenhuyzen could be a late inclusion in what would be a big boost for the away side and the Storm are fancied to make it seven straight wins over the Sea Eagles in this one.
