THE TEAM NEWS

BRISBANE BRONCOS

  • Brisbane Broncos came out on top in the battle of Brisbane as they overcame the Dolphins last week to maintain their perfect start to the season.
  • The Broncos were far from their best in that game but still did enough to prevail and will look to cut loose in this contest with Kevin Walters set to roll with the same 17 as last week.

Starting 13: Walsh, Arthars, Staggs, Farnworth, Cobbo, Mam, Reynolds, Flegler, Walters, Haas, Capewell, Riki, Carrigan – Interchanges: Paix, Palasia, Jensen, Taupau – Reserves: Mariner, Piakura, Hetherington, Madden, Frei

Unavailable: Corey Oates (Injured)

WESTS TIGERS

  • Wests Tigers remain without a win so far this season after suffering their fourth loss in succession to begin the campaign while it is nine losses in-a-row stretching back to last season.
  • Melbourne Storm were the latest side to get the better of them but despite that defeat, head coach Tim Sheens has opted to retain the same 13 that started last week’s clash.

Starting 13: Doueihi, Staines, Naden, Kepaoa, Tupou, Wakeham, Brooks, Utoikamanu, Koroisau, Klemmer, Papali’i, Bateman, Pole – Interchanges: Simpkin, Twal, Matamua, To’a – Reserves: Blore, Ofahengaue, Simpkins, Laurie, Seyfarth

Unavailable: Tommy Talau (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

This could turn into a real mismatch as top take on bottom. Brisbane Broncos have won all four of their matches so far this year while it is the opposite for Wests Tigers and the woes of the away side look set to continue here. They have been woeful for a long period of time, even stretching back to the middle of last season with them claiming just one win since June last year. That spells trouble against a dangerous Broncos outfit that could rack up a big score if they click in attack and they are expected to beat Wests for the first time in five matches and do so by covering the -16 handicap.
